Beer giant Anheuser-Busch has announced that they will debut Bud Lite Platinum in January.

The new brew will contain 6% alcohol by volume, making it a higher alcohol content than the current Bud Light, which contains 4.2%. We're sure this will appeal to college girls who want a beer that can give them more buzz but will be less filling.

Bud Light Platinum is said to have an early 2012 release date. Here's a copy of the certificate of label approval, filed with the Alcohol Trade Bureau.

This adds to the Bud Light family of products that no one actually admits to drinking, which includes Bud Light, Bud Light Lime, Bud Light Golden Wheat and Bud Light/Clamato Chelada (a nightmarish mix of Bud Light, Clamato, and lime).

On a higher note, another Clydesdale was born. Named after former Saint Louis Cardinals manager Tony LaRussa, the little horse is expected to be one of the lead Clydesdales when he grows up.

Tony LaRussa is the (now former) manager of the St. Louis Cardinals, not a player.
