Happy Hour: Duffy's Sports Bar On University Drive

Duffy's on University Drive is the mega-center for mega-sports. Upon entering you're smacked by flat screens everywhere you look. I counted thirty, got dizzy and gave up (a hostess saw me struggling and informed me there are 70+).

Its decor is clean combination of football fanatic frat boy and every Ale House, everywhere. The staff, fitting right in, looks like they just got back from an employee softball game (I assume they won, as both of my bartenders were in a great mood). And most importantly, the reason I was there... happy hour is from 4pm-close EVERY DAY. Not every weekday, but every day 365 days a year. 2-4-1 everything. I know, it's making me all hot and giggly. 

With 16 beers on tap, I considered just drinking 2-4-1's until they closed,
but figured I should try something food wise. Taking the bartender's recommendation, I ordered the Tuscan Grilled Chicken on Ciabatta ($9). The mozzarella was properly melted and the garlic mayo was yummy, but sadly the chicken was overcooked and dry and the bread was a day away from stale. Being blunt, I would never order it again. But being real, it wouldn't keep me from coming back.

This isn't, nor was I expecting it to be, fancy schmancy; it's a sports bar down the street from McDonald's and the Broward Mall. You're there to get drunk and watch the Dolphins lose, not eat foie gras and debate future returns on your favorite hedge fund (You can, but you'll have to sneak in your on foie gras. And best of luck explaining to the 'bros' at the bar what a hedge fund is). The plus side of the meal was the fries. Crunchy and seasoned just right, they were quickly covered in the garlic mayo and eaten like French toast at fat camp (I think Beverly Hills Cafe serves the same kind). Either way, some of the best I've had in a while. If only I'd had them with another entree on the menu.

Duffy's is the official watch bar of the Heat, Dolphins, Panthers and Marlins... and if they keep up the good prices, maybe every other team in America. While every restaurant is increasing prices and cutting specials, it's good to know they have our back with bargains. So if you're on 595 and looking for a good place to get 2-4-1 drinks and watch the game on 70+ Tvs, this is it. But make sure you get one of their reward cards. They're free and will definitely save you even more money.
