Free Beer, Food Trucks at 9/11-Related Events

9/11 events in Broward honor first responders, military.
There are several 9/11-related events this weekend, designed to pay tribute to the thousands of people who died on that day.  We're not listing them all, just the ones that seem to be food-related.  All events are scheduled for Sunday, September, 11th, hours vary (see individual listings for details):


Exchange Canned Food For Beer at Exit 66
Exit 66 and Heineken Light team up in support of the annual 911 National Day of Service and Remembrance by hosting a canned food drve to benefit Feeding South Florida.

Everyone over 21 who donates canned goods will receive a ticket for a complimentary Heineken Light.  In addition, every donor will receive a postcard that can be sent to U.S. Military troops as a note of thanks for their service, as well as a 10% discount card for local restaurants.

Donations are accepted from 1 - 8 p.m. at the Exit 66 poolside entrance, located at 222 Almond Avenue, one block west of A1A, and 1 1/2 blocks north of Las Olas Boulevard.

At 4 p.m., members of the U.S. Army recruiting office in Fort Lauderdale will mark the occasion with a moment of silence.

9/11 Tribute and Food Trucks
The Community of Southwest Ranches and New Testament Baptist Church is holding a 9/11 Tribute event, starting at 9:11 a.m.(!!!). Free t-shirts to everyone while supplies last and medals to first responders and members of the U.S. military. Speeches, kiddie activities, fire trucks and police cars on display. 

Food trucks serve until 5 p.m. and include Chef on 4 Wheels, Giuseppe's Italian Sausage, Mr. Chimi, Overload, Rincon del Coqui, Subusters Yum, and Slow Food Truck.

A portion of food truck proceeds will benefit the church's 9/11 FACE fund and the first 300 first responders/members of the military will receive a BoGo coupon, redeemable at the food trucks. 13900 Griffin Road, South West Ranches.

9/11 Tribute and Food Trucks at Seminole Hard Rock

The Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino is holding a 9/11 Tribute from 5 - 9 p.m. A 21-gun salute, live entertainment and food trucks. In addition, U.S. military personnel will receive a discount at all Paradise restaurants by showing their military I.D.  Food trucks include B.C. Tacos, Big Kahuna, Che Grill, CheeseMe, The Cheese Steak Gourmet, Churro Mania, Clarabelle's Cupcakes, Daddy's Grill, Dim Ssam a Gogo, Dog Eat Dog, Dolci Peccati, The Fish Box, The Flying Saucer, Frita Man, Latin Burger, The MexZican Gourmet, Moty's Grill, Nacho Mama's, The Red Koi, and The Rolling Stove. Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino, 1 Seminole Way, Hollywood.
