The Fall (as in season) of food trucks.
This weekend belongs to food trucks and the South Florida denizens who love their mobile food wares. The schedule over the next few days is dominated by food truck rallies, derbies and festivals, with a transportation network for party goers in Southern Palm Beach County thrown in the mix. Here's a look at some of the on-the-go -- and more stationary -- offerings for drink and food events this weekend in Broward and Palm Beach Counties:

Tonight:

Preservation Foundation of Palm Beach Community Event -- If following world events on Twitter, Facebook, et al. has you feeling like you're falling out of touch with your own community, this event offers a chance to get in touch with your hometown's history and meet some new people, while you're at it. The Preservation Foundation of Palm Beach will host old-timey lawn games, traditional art demos and tours of historic neighborhoods beginning at 6 p.m. At 9 p.m., head over to Gratify American Gastro Pub for an after party and continued merriment.

Food Truck Rally at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino -- The big man on campus when it comes to food truck rallies, this weekly gathering at the Seminole boasts several dozen food trucks and a chance for attendees to play video games on a big screen (this week's theme is game shows and trivia). The action is 5:30 to 10 p.m. in the parking lot of the casino in Hollywood.

Friday:

Delray Beach Bus Loop -- You're far too old to have your mom drop you off for your Friday night fun (and much too mature to do something risky like boozing and cruising) but spry enough to want to paint the town red - so what are your options? The Delray Beach Bus Loop -- a Palm Beach County play on the popular Fort Lauderdale Bus Loop -- allows you the freedom to make an appearance at various Delray Beach hotspots without having to worry about a safe ride or fighting for a parking spot. Check in is between 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the Delray Beach Public Library. Tickets are $20 to $25.

New Times Link Up at Downtowner Saloon -- It's like a real, live comments' section but complete with complimentary food and drink. The Link Up gives loyal New Times readers a chance to mingle and engage in friendly banter and debate about pop culture, politics and food porn, and everything in between. The gig is 7 to 9 p.m. and you can sign up for the free event online.

Celebrity Chefs Food Tasting & Auction -- Are you a high roller on the weekends? This food and dining event at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino allows you to try samplings from more than two dozen local restaurants and vendors, with names like 3030 Ocean, Johnny V and Sublime on the list. The event is at 7 p.m. and tickets are $150 per guest. The event benefits the Ann Storck Center.

Saturday:

Funky Buddha B-day Bash -- Beer lovers in Boca had a rough summer with the closing of The Lodge, but autumn is looking up. Not only will Biergarten Boca Raton open its doors in less than a week, but Funky Buddha Lounge is celebrating the one-year anniversary of its brewery from 6 p.m. to close with chances to try a whole hell of a lot of craft beer, including the peanut butter and jelly inspired No Crusts and Sex Panther, a dark IPA with a killer name. Live music and other shenanigans will round out the party.

Under the Stars Food & Wine Festival -- If your curiosity was piqued by Wednesday's blog about making Merlot ice cream with the assistance of liquid nitrogen -- Science! What will you think of next?! -- you'll want to take notes at the "Under the Stars Food & Wine Festival" at the South Florida Science Museum in West Palm Beach. In addition to this frozen creation, you'll be able to sample various liquid versions of the fermented grape beverage as well as food from local restaurants and vendors. The festival is 6 to 9 p.m. Admission is $20 to $25 at the door.

Brunch With Food Trucks -- What's that you say? You're bored with brunch? OK, neither are we, but if you were, you could give the Gourmet Food Truck take on this classic fourth meal a spin. From 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., a handful of food trucks -- including Catered Bliss, One on the Side and The Red Truck -- will set up shop at the Scottish Rite Building, 2000 D Street in Lake Worth. As always, bring cash and an appetite.

Commercial Village Street Fair -- If you plan your day correctly, you could head directly from the Lake Worth food truck event (see item directly above) to this Oakland Park community get-together and not have to eat any non-food-truck-related meals all day! This shindig will feature a contingency of Miami Food Trucks, the lineup of which thus far includes Nacho Mama's Mexican Grill, Sugar Yummy Mama and Big Kahuna, among others. The festival is 3 to 9 p.m. on East Commercial Boulevard between N. Andrews and NE 6th Avenue.

Food truck rally at Gulfstream Park -- This "food truck derby" sponsored by 790 The Ticket is slamming with more than 20 food trucks -- CheeseMe Mobile, Dim Ssam a Gogo and Monster Burgers to name a few -- and other craziness, including a full liquor bar. It's held 5 to 11 p.m. the last Saturday of the month at Gulfstream Park.

Sunday:

Food truck roundup at Potential Church -- Potential Church in Cooper City shows their love for the mobile food movement by playing host to two evenings of food truck feasting, both Saturday and Sunday from 4 to 9 p.m. The church is located at 12401 Stirling Road, and Sunday night alone promises more than 15 food trucks, including Chef on Wheels, Crepes Outdoors and Mr. Good Stuff, among others.
