Mara in Lake Worth Offers Sunday Brunch With Yard Games
Already popular for happy hours and weekend entertainment, the brunch has proven popular as much for the moderately priced meal as for the games, according to Richard Addicott, one of the owners.
"We have croquet, corn hole, and 'Minute to Win It' out in the garden. We call them station breaks," Addicott said. "People hang out after brunch to play -- the garden was full last week," he said.
Mara opened over a month ago with cocktail hours and dinners daily. The place has been redecorated -- the lounge area features clean white furniture without the purple add-ons.
"We lost the purple décor. It was too... too," he said. "It's a work in progress. We're bringing in new furniture and planning events here as well as doing a lot of catering."
Addicott worked with Barton G in Miami but decided to open in Lake Worth, a smaller, less frenetic town than South Beach but with a lively clientele.
"It's a great neighborhood here," he said. "We've got people coming in who live a few blocks away and people from West Palm and Delray. A great group, really."
Dinner menus are casual American foods -- flatbreads, chicken, fillets, catch of the day, and some vegetarian dishes. The menu is still in flux as the pace grows, Addicott said.
The Sunday Funday brunch menu includes a tropical fresh fruit salad with yogurt and granola, French toast fingers, maple-glazed bacon, country fried steak and gravy, apple-cider roasted turkey pot pie, Southern-style catch of the day, cheesy cheese grits, loaded hash browns, a vegan delight, buttermilk biscuits, and a dessert selection.
Cost is $19.95 per person; reservations include being added to a team for the games.
Mara is at 1132 N. Dixie Highway, Lake Worth. Call 561-523-7910, or visit maraglobaldimensions.com.
