a mildly creepy, untzy club scene. It helps to avoid pasty, tattooed dudes sprawled across beds, solo, bouncing to beats as they lick their chops at bikini-clad lovelies.
Then there's the $16 burger. No, it's not Stephen Starr's Steak 954 served poolside, though the hotel does offer a handful of plates from the Living Room: pork empanadas ($14), an array of satay ($13 to $15), Thai chicken salad ($14), and BLT ($14). Big spenders can shell out for bottle service, while minions pay $7 for a can of Corona or $14 for piña colada or mojito. I stuck to beers and a tasty tuna and avocado roll ($16).

If this sounds like your thing, mark your calendar: The rooftop is only open to the public on Sundays from 1 to 8 p.m.
Any other options for poolside rooftop dining? I called a couple of other hotels -- the Ritz-Carlton, for starters -- where those not staying at the hotel can access the hotel pool by booking a cabana for a whopping $500 for two hours.
