Be a Judge @ Pairings, New Times' Food & Wine Tasting Event

• Hello guys and dolls, My name is Kristi and I would make a great choice for being a judge for your event.  I can't say anything amazing like I've traveled around the world a million times and ate (and possibly puked) alongside the worlds greatest foodies, but that doesn't stop me from having trained for this event all my life.   I've spent 10 years in my basement doing tongue push-ups, and having shots of pure food flavors injected directly into my bloodstream to be able to distinguish a good meal when I taste it. There are times when it's been so bad for me that my friends won't let me anywhere near free samples (especially when it begins with frozen and ends with yogurt) without first tying a rope around my waist in-order to pull me back to the surface lest I go too deep. I'm all about taste, presentation, texture, and after watching a Korean soap opera about a pastry chef on top of doing a 15 minute presentation once for a job interview solely on cakes, I'm totally down for a good story behind certain platters (which I like to simply call a dinner and a movie).  What can I say?  Sometimes my inner food dork gets the better of me. • Are you gay or are you a teenage girl?

• Fascinating idea, Fat Hand. When we dreamed up this idea, we wondered if Dennis would put his name in. But I'm willing to bet dinner on me that he won't, and if he did, that he wouldn't show up. It's easy to say the often untrue, often hurtful, and often uninformed things he does when he has anonymity. Step out from behind that monitor, and suddenly things change. As for those who have responded so far, my vote is for the impassioned post from Kelly Coulson. Can anyone top it?

• I would like to be guest judge but not as much as I would like Dennis to be guest judge. I endorse Dennis as guest judge for multiple reasons, a few of which are 1) he loves the NewTimes as evidenced by the enthusiasm of his commenting, 2) Pairings is his favorite event of the year, and 3) his sunny disposition makes any food event more enjoyable. Dennis has my vote.

• I am a foodies  who wants to learn everything about food, both the best and the ordinary, and about the science, industry, and personalities surrounding food.  I truly would like to be gourmet which pairings offer the best of both.   tcalbano@hotmail.com

• We are excited to participate once again in your event. Come by the Bimini Boatyard table to taste the most exotic tasting table there. Chef Michael Bennett will be dishing up something is going to blow your taste bud minds away. He will be creating an Incan montage of Mexican cocoa spice dusted Escolar ( white tuna) and Kahula-frangelico beurre blanc AND serving alongside his famous Caribbean kimchee. And, that's not all. To blow away your taste buds he is pairing this with a cocoa dusted 5 liqour ganache truffle

• Firstly... I'm the first to comment and that HAS to count for something!   All joking aside, my deepest of hearts wants me to be a foodie and we can’t deny what the heart wants. I’ve logged so many hours of Top Chef (traditional, Masters, All Stars & Desserts), Chopped, and Iron Chef that Tom, Padma, Gail, Ted & Alton would all be proud (and slightly impressed). I’ve recently become addicted to the food truck craze that’s taking over South Florida and it would be a nice change to pace to enjoy food that requires me to sit at a table (and use traditional silverware).   In addition, as a photographer I could not only enjoy and judge the bountiful assortment of food and libations but document the process with my camera!
