Five of the World's Largest Candies and Their Calorie Counts

Categories: Really?

When we said "giant candy cane" we meant the edible variety.
We live in a country where obese children are more of a concern than nuclear war. Americans spend $110 billion annually to shove Big Macs, super-sized fries, and milkshakes down their gullets in the hopes of doing what? Surely not maintaining svelte figures.

In America we bow down to the over-sugared and the overly-large. So it comes as no surprise that many of the world's largest candies hail from the land of the free. We got giddy staring at pictures of gummy bears so large you want to lick the screen. His gummy bear abs look good enough to eat, literally.

But if someone were to consume that much gummy-goodness how many calories does it equate to? We did the dirty math but please note our calculations are approximate and should not be considered scientific. Please don't read any further if you're squeamish or enjoy acknowledging health risks.

5. World's Largest Gummy Bear

This monster is no longer the cuddly candy you picked out at the candy shop in the mall. This is hefty chunkster who perfectly symbolizes America's excess sugar consumption. He weighs in at 5 pounds and is equal to 1,400 regular-sized gummy bears.

Calories in 10 regular-sized gummy bear: 87 calories.

Calories in one extra-freaking-large gummy bear: 12,600 calories according to vat19.com.

4. World's Largest Gummy Worm

This heffer is slightly smaller than the giant bear, weighing in at three pounds. According to perpetualkid.com the worm is roughly the size of 130 regular gummy worms. Can't finish it in one sitting? It has a year long shelf life!

Calories in one giant gummy worm: according to perpetualkid, only 4,000. But we don't believe them.

3. World's Largest Candy Cane

Of course one of these items is available at Dylan's Candy Bar, the candy story owned by Ralph Lauren's daughter. The world's largest candy cane is available for mass consumption and weighs in at 3.5 pounds. Sadly it's not kosher.

Calories in one regular 14 gram candy cane: 55 calories.

Calories in world's largest candy cane: 6,236 calories.

2. World's Largest Chocolate Bar

Unlike the gummy bear and gummy worm (respectively) this monstrous chocolate bar is not commercially available. It was made by Grand Candy Factory in Armenia to celebrate the company's 10-year anniversary. MSNBC reported back in 2010 that it's 9,702 pounds, 224 inches long, 110 inches wide and 10 inches thick and made with all-natural ingredients. It was divvied up in the town's main square last year.

Calories in one pound of chocolate: 2,295 calories.

Calories in 9,702 pounds of chocolate: 22,266,090 calories.

1. World's Largest Pez Dispenser

This one was a bonus find. This giant childhood relic stands at 7 feet 10 inches tall and dispenses either individual, regular-sized Pez dispensers, or clear, plastic capsules that can hold 6,480 Pez candies. Since the article doesn't tell us how many capsules this honker holds we can only calculate the calories in 6,480 Pez candies. And boy is that a doozy.

Calories in one Pez candy: 2.92 calories.

Calories in 6,480 Pez candies: 18,921 calories.

Mmm heart attack.
