Send your kids on a Willy Wonka-like adventure.

Schakolad Chocolate Factory in Davie is giving kids 6 to 15 a chance to try their hand at dipping chocolates.

The chocolatiers on staff, Dafne Reich and Adriana Schaked, who we assume have dealt with gooey kids before, will provide a 50-minute program starting with a tour of the chocolate factory.

Along the way, the kids learn a brief history of chocolate making around the world, learn how chocolate is made from beans and ends up to bar form, then get to taste a variety of chocolates.

They'll also create special treats "hands on" and decorate a bag to bring them home in. One of the treats includes a chocolate "pizza" made from a chocolate "crust" covered with several "toppings" made from other candies. The "cheese" is made of melted white chocolate.

Whoo hoo -- let's all have sugar comas!

The Schakolad Field Trip schedule is
  • July 29, 11-11:50 a.m.
  • August 4, 11-11:50 a.m.
  • August 11, 11-11:50 a.m.
  • August 16, 4-4:50 p.m.
