I've actually come across a lot people who know about the dangers our soldiers face while on deployment but don't realize that many of them face great difficulties when coming back home ~ the physical and mental injuries that often result in joblessness and homelessness. I've made an effort to donate to groups that assist vets, particularly Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America ~ iava.org ~ and spreading the word to my friends and families about the support our vets need when they come back home.

The most patriotic thing I've ever done? I've donated to charities to help the military, participated in holiday parades. Hell, being out in the streets of NY the night Obama got elected was definitely a unifying moment in history. But being at the 9/11 Memorials in NYC is without a doubt the thing that stands out the most. Everyone set aside their differences and united for such a historic moment in our lives. Everyone was proud to be an American.

actually, feeding the homeless on Thanksgiving with my son is about it.  We do quite a bit for those who have less.

Helping pack care kits to send to soldiers, working with moms for soldiers. Making sure our troops don't go without necessities like toothbrushes and soap...and maybe even a few treats like cookies and dvd's!!!
