Mama Che Buono Becomes Fast, Casual Italy

Now you can travel to Italy without ever leaving CityPlace.

Italy Fast Quality Food, that is.

The former Mama Che Buono (700 S. Rosemary Ave., West Palm Beach; 561-655-1241) has upped the ante on its original panini, gelato, and coffee drinks menu, adding mix-and-match pastas and sauces and a wide variety of imported Italian chocolates as well as a small Italian market that dispenses everything from imported artisan pastas and rustic breads baked in-house daily to jarred sauces, condiments, jams, and wines.

The pasta menu offers ten pastas, from penne to pappardelle, that can be mated to seven sauces -- tomato-basil, quattro formaggi, arrabbiata, pesto, and more. There's also a quartet of stuffed pastas to complement the selection of panini, salads, cold apps, and panzerotto. Pasta prices range from $10 to $13; panini and salads are all under $10.

A complete redo of the interior added table service seating, while the addition of outdoor seating increased total capacity to 30. It's just the beginning too, as locations are planned for Atlantic Avenue in Delray Beach and Lincoln Road in SoBe.

Had two bad experiences here but because my husband liked the pizza I agreed to try it once more and that was a mistake! The owner was very rude the first time and the second time the waiter was no better. Even while we were eating the waiter told an old woman that just purchased ice cream there that she couldn't sit in the tables outside because they are for customers that are having lunch. What was so bad is that no one and I do mean 0 people sitting at any of the tables!!! I was not happy with our service and left him only 10% tip which he then had the nerve to set it down and tell me they only accept a minimum tip of 15%. We will never eat there again!
