This one's for the kids.

This Thursday evening, the Taste of the Nation Fort Lauderdale will celebrate its 20th year of raising much-needed funds for the fight to end childhood hunger in the U.S.

Familiar faces at the event will include Chef Ralph Pagano (STK, Miami) as the voice of the live auction and Paul Castronovo and Ron Brewer (of the "Paul and Young Ron Morning Show" on 105.9 FM) as the event MCs, plus a dozen of the region's best-known chefs.

Sample dishes from roughly 40 restaurants and specialty shops and pair them with tastes from nearly a dozen adult beverage vendors. A general admission ticket is $90 in advance and $125 at the door and grants you entry from 7 to 10 p.m. Spring for the VIP entry ($200/$225) and get in at 6 p.m. for a goodie bag and champagne reception. The event is at Broward Convention Center, 1950 Eisenhower Blvd. Tickets at strengthflorida.org.

With 47 million Americans on Food Stamps, these guys need a new cause. The only people going hungry in this country are vegans and others who reject food by choice.
