Was Sunday's operation too secret for the White House kitchen staff?
As details are released about the operation that led to the killing of Osama Bin Laden, one of the more interesting things to note is the food in the Situation Room on Sunday.

A detailed story in the New York Times states, "On Sunday, White House officials canceled all West Wing tours so unsuspecting tourists and visiting celebrities wouldn't accidentally run into all the high-level national security officials holed up in the Situation Room all afternoon monitoring the feeds they were getting from Mr. Panetta. A staffer went to Costco and came back with a mix of provisions -- turkey pita wraps, cold shrimp, potato chips, soda."

According to the White House Museum, there are five full-time chefs in the White House kitchen, ready to serve the president and guests at any time of the day or night.

Was the operation so covert that even the chef couldn't be summoned to make a half-dozen sandwiches? We can only be sure that somewhere, a Costco employee should be proud that his or her turkey wrap helped feed the president in one of the tensest moments of his presidency.
