There's something comforting about being able to see -- and smell and touch -- the Atlantic when you're stuffing your face with something purporting to be the freshest catch of the day.
Perhaps that explains much of the appeal of the Pompano Beach Seafood Festival, celebrating its 27th year this weekend on Pompano Beach with live music, arts and crafts, and tons of food vendors with an emphasis on -- you guessed it -- seafood.

Admission is $10 on Friday and $12 on Saturday and Sunday. This year's music will be provided by 7 Bridges on Friday and Sister Hazel and the Guess Who on Saturday. This is a family-friendly event, but no worries: There's also a beer tent for those of age. Festival hours are 5 to 10 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday.
