Jon Bon Jovi to Open "Pay What You Can" Soul Kitchen Restaurant in New Jersey

Jon Bon Jovi - nice guy.
Here's just one more reason to love Jon Bon Jovi (besides the fact that he can totally rock out and manages to actually get younger and hotter each year).

The Jon Bon Jovi Soul Foundation is opening Soul Kitchen in Red Bank, New Jersey, this spring. (If Red Bank sounds familiar, it's because that's where musicians like Bon Jovi and Springsteen started their careers.) The restaurant will serve healthy foods prepared with local ingredients from New Jersey farms. The difference is that there are no prices on the menu.

The restaurant will be run on a "pay what you can" basis. The suggested meal donation is $10. If you can afford to pay more, the money will go to help feed someone. If you can't afford to pay, you can volunteer time in the restaurant. In short -- no one is turned away from a meal.

Patrons are encouraged to dine at communal tables, make new friends, and come back and volunteer at Soul Kitchen.

In this economy, the "pay what you can" concept sounds like a great idea. Now, would any rock star like to start a "pay what you can" gas station in Fort Lauderdale?

It's because of his high profile that Jon can bring it too the attention of the multitudes - we're all talking about it! And it may just inspire one or two to go out and lend a hand. Stop knocking those that put their hard earned millions into good causes!! Go volunteer yourself!

I am sure that many people are grateful to have someone who cares about those who need the care. Heartfelt thanks to Bon Jovi on behalf of all those he has helped and from me who just watches what he does. Kudos.

Why are the famous who do not pay Homeowners tax or much other taxes your heros? they owe the community. The rich get a free ride litteraly, then they get their face plastered all over the internet and you the people put them on a an altar. You are educated people, and when you do something that yuor buget allows, are you all over the internet getting free publicity for you business? What a kick they must get out of all of your praises!

Great idea, and great job by Bon Jovi! Not to nitpick, but neither Bon Jovi or Springsteen got their start in Red Bank. Both got their start in Asbury Park, New Jersey, about 10 miles or so south east of Red Bank.

We must be on the same wave length! I intend to do similar with a Chiropractic office - P.W.Y.C.A., "pay what you can afford" - but only once I am relocated to Southeast GA, from this area I am now in South Coast MA, which is infested with auto accident & work compensation practices & people looking to "cash-in" on such cases.

Leave it to Jon Bon Jovi to be thinking about the people who are going through tough times right now!

grow up and complain about something that is relevant to the cause good grief. Whats wrong with a famous person paying something forward how the hell do you know if he pays his taxes or not.

and what are you doing to help others??? Stop complaining about people that are actually doing something to help others. When's the last time you volunteered or tried to help out someone? They owe us nothing!!!. Whether it's Bon Jovi, Michael Jackson, Brad Pitt etc.. they have worked hard to get where they are and they are trying to help others. You should be thankful that there is people out there that are lending a hand and less of people like you that complain !!!! Hand a Nice Day ( Jersey style) :)
