No. 46: Paneer Makhani from The Palace

There are many things both good and bad that you can find in Davie --  monster trucks with rebel flags, an overpriced private college that shall remain nameless, and beef jerky-flavored chewing tobacco.

What good things can one find in Davie, you ask? Not many! Just kidding...kind of. One of Davie's hidden treasures is tucked away in a quiet strip mall.

Located off of State Rd. 84, The Palace is a tiny Indian restaurant that serves authentic Indian cuisine. Traditional dishes from all over the subcontinent grace the restaurant's extensive menu. With its floor to ceiling pink decor, Taj Mahal shaped booths, and the heady scent of pungent spices, you may feel as though you've been transported to India when you arrive.

Vegetarians rejoice! Like many Indian restaurants, The Palace offers a wealth of vegetarian options including our favorite dish number 46, Paneer Makhani. This traditional northern Indian dish features paneer, a special cottage cheese (the look and texture is similar to that of tofu), and a savory tomato based gravy made with with butter and cream. A generous helping of jasmine rice is served on the side.

For those who like to walk on the mild side, this dish is right up your alley! For those who can take the heat, Paneer Makhani can be also ramped up to atomic status with spicy chilis.

Drinking a delicious Kingfisher beer with your meal is recommended but not required.
