New Executive Chef, New Menu at Atlantic Ocean Club

There's been a bit of trouble on the high seas since the Atlantic Ocean Club (AOC) opened in Delray earlier this year. After losing its executive chef, Jamie DeRosa, less than two months after they opened, the upscale restaurant has been a somewhat wayward ship until now.

Atlantic Ocean Club recently put
Lisa Odom, formerly executive chef at Galanga in West Palm, at the helm naming her as its new executive chef. In addition to a new chef, the restaurant also has a brand new menu. Some of the new additions on the menu, like the AOC Cheeseburger and Florida BBQ Ribs are head-scratchers and seem incongruous with the restaurant's elegant dining concept. Other new dishes, such as the Pan Seared Halibut and Diver Scallops with Sunchoke Puree help to steer AOC back on course, offering guests something more other than pricey bar food in a luminous setting.

Hopefully with a new chef and a new menu there will be nothing but calm waters and smooth sailing ahead for the Atlantic Ocean Club!

I understand that the old chef was a real ass. He was trained in China or something. Not a classically trained chef or any one who had a track record in Florida. The place has been doing well since his departure.

No worries! Atlantic Ocean Club has taken a new course and is really doing well. Unfortunately, it was some bumpy sailing with some people who were not on top of thier game. What a shame to see such a promising restaurant with a great concept totally go in the toilet in such a short time. Anything that was new, exciting and unique is now over. I was there a week ago after returning from up north and it seems the entire opening staff has followed the chef out the door. No the menu looks exactly like everyone else on the ave, but at least all the signs and staff accosting you as you walk by hasn't changed. Talk about unfocused, go upstairs and visit Buddha bar for a much better experience, I can't imagine Atlantic ocean being there in this capacity come next fall

You said it right SE, "this place is in trouble." I had the pleasure to attend the grand opening and thought the food was excellent with a menu unique to Delray. The last time I went (and it will be my last) I felt like I was at a T.G.i.F in the middle of a nightclub on a bad cruise. I give it another 6 months tops... NEXT.

This place is failing because of the nightlife self-proclaimed impresario owner Chris Licata, formerly from Saki Room. This guy is a joke and now so is the restaurant.
