This Thursday, you can eat, drink -- and get a glimpse of some spectacular art -- all for a good cause.

How? Simply attend the Northern Palm Beach County Chamber of Commerce's sixth-annual "Red, White, and Zin" event, a gourmet-food- and winetasting event to be held January 27 from 6 to 9 p.m. at Store Wine Storage in Palm Beach Gardens.

Guests of the event get a chance to sip on some great wines and gourmet food as part of a benefit event that supports school art programs in Palm Beach County.

These days, however, "Red, White, and Zin" is better-known as the feature event of ArtiGras, the annual fine-arts festival dedicated to promoting cultural arts in Northern Palm Beach County.

ArtiGras began in 1985, and its goal, according to event Chairman John Heffernan, has been to "become one of the premier arts festivals in the Southeast" while simultaneously donating more than $480,000 to local nonprofits, school art programs, and scholarship foundations.

Two and a half decades later, that vision has become reality. ArtiGras is currently ranked as one of the top 20 events by the Southeastern Tourism Society and is one of the top 50 festivals in the country, according to Sunshine Artist magazine.

A large part of the festival's fundraising comes from special events, including "Red, White, and Zin." The tasting features a selection of more than 40 varieties of fine wine alongside gourmet food from local establishments such as Spiro's Greek Taverna, Tijuana Flats, Spoto's Oakwood Grill, Zuccarelli's, Vic & Angelo's, Rooney's Irish Pub and
Sushi Jo -- plus many more.

"[It's one] of our most successful events. [Everyone] is encouraged to celebrate... and taste some fantastic vintages and even have the opportunity to purchase and take home their favorite wines," says Suzanne Neve, director of programs and services for the Northern Palm Beach County Chamber of Commerce.

The evening will also feature live jazz music and artwork from local artists and will be host to the unveiling of the official commemorative poster for ArtiGras 2011.

The 2011 ArtiGras Fine Arts Festival is scheduled for February 19 to 21 at Abacoa Town Center in Jupiter. It's produced by the North Palm Beach County Chamber of Commerce and features 300 juried artists, a celebrity art auction, a children's interactive area, demonstrations by artists, live entertainment, a private art preview, and a youth art competition.
