Halloween Pumpkin Carving Tonight at the Poor House

The crafty fun starts around 9 p.m. One of the organizers will have 20 pumpkins on hand for sale for around five bucks apiece -- but it's best to bring your own gear in case those sell out.
Once everyone puts down the knives and lights up their finished pieces, the magic happens as the sidewalk and bar become filled with glowing pumpkin faces. Last year's event reportedly drew about 50 participants, who created both traditional jack-o'-lanterns as well as more creative and naughty versions -- like the one adorned with penis antlers as seen in the photo above.
Tonight, DJ Drew Wise is up on the deck, spinning sounds of '80s dance beats, indie rock, and electro. We were told no "Monster Mash" is allowed, but if you drink enough of the Shipyard Pumpkin Ale on tap from the bar, you may want to do the monster-gets-smashed dance.
The Poor House is located in downtown Fort Lauderdale at 110 SW Third Ave.
