Order Up: Happy Hours

Happy hour: It's not just for drinking anymore. This week in Dish, we look at three local happy hours that, aside from having great booze and good vibes, pack some diggable food as well.

First, we trucked up to Delray Beach to check out the Triple Eight Lounge at the Falcon House. Long a cherished Delray watering hole, the Falcon House was bought and rebranded four months ago by restaurateur
Karl Alterman. His goal: return the historical cottage to its original form as a cozy small plates and gin joint. So far, he and chef Jimmy Dean have the right idea. They serve kicked-up comfort food, much of it designed to dip and dunk into some cool gourmet sauces. The beer, the good times, and the well-worn vibe combine to make Triple Eight a fun place to spend happy hour.

Also on the docket: Grand Lux Cafe, a chain of international-themed eateries from the creator of the Cheesecake Factory. But don't let that deter you -- Grand Lux Cafe has a posh setting and plenty of interesting appetizer-sized bites to keep you occupied. Finally, we look at Himmarshee Side Bar, whose $2 bar bites through the summer are reason enough to go. The two-for-one drinks and rollicking bar scene just add to that mix.
