Neighborhood Sports Bar & Grill Opens in Boca Raton
Or you can head to Boca to the new Neighborhood Sports Bar & Grill, which staged its grand-opening party yesterday. New owner Michael Orecchio has redone the concept, banished the old pool tables, and instituted an extensive food and drink menu that melds traditional sports bar fare with less pub-grubby offerings.
What that means in your mouth is that loaded potato skins, nachos, Buffalo wings, pizza, and burgers co-exist with seared-rare tuna with seaweed salad, linguine with white clam sauce, grilled New York strip, and eggplant Parmesan. There's a kids' menu too, along with nightly specials that include Tuesday-night prime rib for $9.99 and Saturday-night almond-crusted mahi or grilled salmon for $11.95.
Though you can certainly pound down a few mugs of cold Bud, there's also a lengthy roster of specialty cocktails, from a pomegranate martini made with Smirnoff pomegranate vodka to the "Dennis Rodman," a blend of Jeremiah Weed Sweet Tea, vodka, iced tea, and lemonade that in large quantities can cause the unwary to get multiple body piercings in painful and embarrassing places and run around South Florida acting like a total doofus.
As for the place itself, it's some 10,000 square feet of dark wood floors, lots of big comfy booths, a dance floor and stage, a spacious outdoor patio, signed sports memorabilia in glass cases on the walls, and flat-screen TVs at every table and the largest projection TV in South Florida, so when Ronnie Brown runs the Wildcat, it will seem like he's charging right up your nasal passages.
