Thankfully, these Boys of Summer aren't baseball players but, rather, chefs. Oliver Saucy (Café Maxx), Allen Susser (Taste and Chef Allen's), Carlos Fernandez (Hi-Life Cafe), and Andy Trousdale (Le Bistro) cook up some of the best food in South Florida, and they're putting those talents to work in a cooking demo and food/wine pairing to benefit an organization that helps feed the poor and hungry in our midst.
On Wednesday, August 25, from 6 to 9 p.m., this quartet of chefs will be at Florida Builder Appliances (1742 W. Atlantic Blvd., Pompano Beach), each demonstrating the preparation of a dish to be paired and served with four wines from Starmont and Merryvale wineries in California. On the menu are Asian barbecue pulled pork sliders from Oliver Saucy, Southwest pasta Bolognese from Carlos Fernandez, salmon margarita from Andy Trousdale and garlicky guava shrimp with macadamia nut-saffron rice from Allen Susser.
All proceeds will go to Feeding South Florida, a nonprofit agency based in Pembroke Park that supplies food to charitable organizations in Palm Beach, Broward, Miami-Dade, and Monroe counties.
Tickets cost $20 per person and can be obtained here or by calling 954-977-6407.
