Throw Down the Gauntlet at the Riverwalk Trust Burger Battle In June
The competition will pit 15 local restaurants against each other to vie for the title of Best Burger. Hamburger hungry fans in attendance will get to sample each of the burgers in the competition and vote on their favorite, while a panel of celebrity judges will cast the official vote and crown one meatwich as king.
The competitors are many, and include (deep breath):
Capital Grille, Morton's The Steakhouse, Pelican Landing at Pier Sixty-Six Marina, Johnny V Restaurant, Big City Tavern, Council Oak Steaks & Seafood at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, Riverside Hotel, Tarpon Bend, Timpano Chophouse & Martini Bar, Ilios at the Hilton Fort Lauderdale Beach, Smith & Jones Bar and Grill, Stop Burgers, China Grill, Lauderdale Grill and Georgie's Alibi.
We're now taking bets in the comment section below on who will win the crown.
According to Riverwalk Trust's Jackie Chavez, the rules of the contest are wide open save for one: The burgers must all be beef based (bummer for Georgie's Alibi, who won't be able to submit their ostrich meat burger). While the organizers didn't want to divulge who would be judging just yet, they did give some hints. One judge is a well-know burger blogger, another a former Dolphin's player, and a third was a contestant on Hell's Kitchen.
There will be a fan favorite selection, too. Burger lovers can trek from tent to tent, sampling the same burgers the judges will vote on. Attendees will get a chip that they can turn it at any burger tent to cast their vote.
Lastly, a slider eating contest will pit a few select local celebrities against one another in a timed match. The event is sponsored by Krystal Burger.
All this, plus three drink tickets a lifetime's worth of indigestion costs just $40 a head. Grab your tickets online at Goriverwalk.com.
