​ The Spot: Champps Americana in Fort Lauderdale

The Hours: Monday- Friday, 4-7 p.m. and 9 p.m. - close

The Deets: $1 off all drinks except bottled beers, and half off all appetizers, excluding the sampler platter and apparently, the Kobe beef sliders.

The Scene: Champps is huge. It's not snug with random pieces of art on the wall. It can seat more than 200 people and showcases more than a dozen big screen televisions. It's a place you can take your family and watch the game. Win-win.

Quesadillas get a thumbs up. Crab bread gets two thumbs down.

​ The Cost: Taking a dollar off of any drink may not sound like much of a deal for a happy hour, but you can splurge a little more on the drinks since the appetizers are half off. (They normally range from $6-$16.) All of the appetizers are included except for the sampler platter and the Kobe beef sliders. Guess who found out the hard way?

The Verdict: The scenery is good because I love being able to watch a game without worrying about which drunken man is going to step on my toes first. I'm upset they didn't tell me their happy hour restrictions until after I got the bill. Luckily, the chicken quesadillas were good. According to the menu, the crab bread is "coming out of retirement." Sadly, it needs to go back into whatever retirement it came out of. At the end of it, the best deal is actually the dollar-off-drinks special.
