Although David Manero's Delray gastropub The Office only opened a month ago, New Times has confirmed that Chef Mark Militello has already left the building.

Militello, who at one time presided over four namesake restaurants in South Florida, came to The Office after a short time as executive chef of culinary operations at The Regent Bal Harbor, which became 1 Bleu when it was sold in June.

When asked at a recent press event at the gastropub why he had made the move to The Office, Militello became animated for the first time that evening, explaining that he'd had a very prestigious position at his previous job, but that "it was sold." No further explanation was forthcoming and, given that response, none may be needed to explain his latest departure.

UPDATE: When contacted this evening by New Times, restaurateur David Manero said simply, "Mark Militello was released of his duties by David Manero Restaurants. We wish him well in his future endeavors."
