Let's face it, things are pretty ugly nowadays. War, famine, pestilence. . . can the plague of locusts be far behind?
Maybe what we need it a good shot of pretty. Pretty flowers, good food, fine wine, cool jazz. That's the deal at "Wine & Jazz Under the Stars," a couple hours of pretty and pretty good times held every third Thursday from January to April at the American Orchid Society Botannical Garden in Delray Beach.
This year's series kicks off Thursday, Jan. 21, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., and features musicians from the Gold Coast Jazz Society, hors d'oeuvres from local caterers, a quartet of wines from Total Wine & More and the chance to relax in candlelight amid the natural beauty of the society's gardens.
Cost is $20 for members and $25 for non-members. To reserve tickets call 561-404-2031 and try to remember when pretty didn't mean Botox and butt lifts.
