No. 97: Frito Misto at Sublime
There's an appetizer at Sublime, that gleaming mecca of vegan eating in Fort Lauderdale, that's so damned good that I've been known to stop in and grab it while on the way to dinner elsewhere.
The frito misto is a fairly simple concoction: Deep-fried chunks of cauliflower are dowsed in a sweet and sour sauce and sprinkled with sesame seeds and green onions. Despite being deep-fried and covered in sauce, it's surprisingly light, and the sauce has an excellent twang and spiciness.
It's like an amazing plate of sweet and sour chicken but without the... well, you know.
