Foodie Events This Week
Anywho, Xante will be hosting a mixology course tonight at 5:30 at YOLO in Fort Lauderdale, which will feature Swedish mixologist Ricky Broni talking shop. Xante's CEO, Adele Nilsson, will also be in attendance, presumably drawn in on a carriage pulled by a half-dozen bare-chested Swedes. Or is that Xwedes?
More of this week's LOL-tastic food events after the jump.
Can't make it to Italy's Carnevale Festival this year? Check out Zuccarelli's of Palm Beach Gardens version of the pre-Lent spectacle this Thursday, January 14 at 6 p.m. (5530 PGA Blvd. in Palm Beach Gardens). There will be live music plus food and drink tastings, contests, costumes, prizes, and (of course) fun. Admission is free, but the tastings range from $2 to $4 each, with proceeds benefiting the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure. RSVP to firstname.lastname@example.org, or at Zuccarelli's facebook page.
Also on Thursday, Food Network's Trevor Corson will be at Morikami Japanese Gardens dishing on sushi -- specifically, sustainability within the practice. Corson's the author of books such as The Secret Life of Lobsters and The Story of Sushi: An Unlikely Saga of Raw Fish and Rice, and a huge proponent of sustainable fishing practices -- he's even been featured on Japanese television talking about the plight of the way, way, way over-fished bluefin tuna. His Thursday night presentation begins at 7:30 p.m. and costs juts $10 for non-members or $7 for Morikami members. To register, visit www.morikami.org, or call 561-495-0233 x 235.
