Terra Madre, Boston's Birthday, Lola's Cooking Demos

Boston is wicked awesome.jpg
I know many of you were looking forward to celebrating Festivus this year, but Slow Food has an even better winter holiday to take part in. Terra Madre Day is being held around the world on December 10 with the basic goal of celebrating food diversity. The grassroots campaign is asking its members to organize local gatherings and celebrations -- no word yet on this year's feats of strength.

Thirty years is a wicked long time to be slinging drinks and sliders on the beach, but that's just how long Delray's favorite seaside baaah, Boston's on the Beach, has been doing it. Today through Saturday, Boston's will party down like it's 1979, the very year the bar was born, with live music and drink specials every night. Head down tonight for Kulcha Shock reggae night with Lance-O. A complete schedule is up on bostonsonthebeach.com.

Speaking of Boston, chef Michael Wagner of Lola's on Harrison is making New England cuisine the focus of the first of his new American Regional Cooking classes to be held on October 25 at 5 p.m. Wagner will do a live demo as he cooks the multicourse meal for guests; beer or wine pairings and recipes will also be provided. On the docket: Nantucket scallop chowder, Yankee pot roast, and Vermont maple cheese cake. Upcoming dates in the series will take you through the mid-Atlantic, Southern Gulf, Pacific Northwest, Southwest, and Southeast. Tickets cost $50; reserve them by calling 954-927-9851.
