Tap Tap Sunday

Categories: Order Up
This Sunday evening, recording artist Farah Juste will be at Tap Tap Haitian Restaurant on South Beach for "a CD signing and celebration". Ms. Juste's career as a passionate singer of Haitian folk songs took off with her debut solo album in 1977, and since then she has performed from Paris to Switzerland to Carnegie Hall. The Port-Au-Prince native moved to Miami in 1983, and has been a community activist championing immigration-rights issues; her day care center, "Farah's Angels", provides early child care to children in North Miami. But it is the emotional/political music that she is really renowned for; if you go to Miami's James L. Knight Center and look at the international mural, Farah's image is smack dab between that of Diana Ross and Patti Labelle. 'Nuff said.

And don't forget the malanga fritters, mayi moulen, and Barbancourt rum drinks, which is reason enough to pay Tap Tap a visit.

Tap Tap is located at 819 Fifth St. Festivities take place "from 7:00 p.m. until ????". Call 305-672-2898 for reservations.
