Are You a Leg Man?

Frog_legs_splayed_sitting_on_wooden.jpgJust a reminder to mark your calendars: The Fellsmere Frog Legs Festival kicks off on January 15th and runs through the weekend to a grand finale at the Sunday Croaker Run. For my money Saturday the 17th looks like the best day to show if you're feeling competitive: three contests include Leap Frog, Hay Bale Tossing, and that perennial favorite, jalapeno eating (I think I might enter this one. I've heard the best way to prepare is to drink lots of gin.) But the real reason to hie over to the Frog Legs Festival is so you can eat enough frog legs to last you at least until next January 2010, along with an equal amount of alligator, grits, cole slaw, and hush puppies. There'll be music courtesy of Tribal Tongue, Cantastick, Surfin' Rascals, and The Lost River Gang so you can hop around afterwards.

To get to Fellsmere, BTW, just leap onto I-95 and point your T-bird north.
