WTF Is It?!? Round 6

OK, I took a lot of guff last week for posting a photo that made the game way too easy (yes, if you can read the fine print, backwards, that was UGLI fruit) sold at Whole Foods. So this week I have TWO weird edibles for you brainiacs out there who evidently relish a challenge. The LIME in the picture is just there for scale, wiseguys.

So please identify. And, once you get past the spines, are they even remotely worth eating? How would YOU cook them, given the chance? Would you feed them to your worst enemies? As part of a henbane salad, maybe?
